Hello. I teach high school choir in Nashville Tennessee. I’m starting a blog about something called the Gridiron Glee Club. I’m not very good at blogging so I am intentionally starting small and you can enjoy how I improve.

The original seed for GGC was planted the school year when we returned from Covid and I had a student teacher. Basically everything was virtual and there was a class period that was essentially a study hall where I allowed my student teacher to teach private voice lessons online so I went around the school talking to the students that opted to come to school.

It was during this study hall that I eventually went around to all of the study halls and asked teachers for their most “troublesome” students partially to get them out of their class and to see if maybe I could get them performing music. These students had no intention to abide by the rules and had no hope of being independent enough to be productive in a study hall environment. I gathered all of them in one room and asked them to write any rap lyrics that would like. Uncensored. This is the origin story…..
